Vietnam longest sea bridge opens
VietNamNet Bridge – The Thi Nai Bridge opens today in the central province of Binh Dinh. With the length of 2.5km, Thi Nai will be the longest bridge in Vietnam.
Thi Nai Bridge
This is the first time in Binh Dinh’s 300-year history that it has gone after conquering the sea; it is attempting to expand its urban area to Phuoc Hoa, Phuoc Son, Cat Tien and Cat Hai districts.
In the last two years, since the Prime Minister signed the decision on the establishment of the Nhon Hoi EZ, 40 investment projects have been registered in the EZ, totaling $3.3bil.
The construction of Thi Nai bridge and road complex was launched in November 2002, and comprises a road, five short bridges and the 2,477 m Thi Nai Bridge, which costs VND582bil. The Thi Nai Bridge, spanning Thi Nai Rangoon, linking Quy Nhon and Nhon Hoi EZ in Phuong Mai peninsula, will open a new stage of development for the Nhon Hoi EZ.
Nhon Hoi is scheduled to be a general EZ, which will act as the nucleus of the development of Binh Dinh Province. It will be the industrial, tourism and service centre of the southern part of the central region. This area will also be linked with Cambodia’s northeast market, Laos’ southern market, Thailand’s central region and the Mekong sub-region.
Binh Dinh authorities have signed memorandums of understanding with HCM City and Hanoi on comprehensive cooperation. Meanwhile, Binh Dinh has reached an agreement with Laos to plant 90,000 ha of rubber plants in Attapu, Sekong and Champasak provinces in the neighbouring country.
The list of investors in Nhon Hoi may become longer as Kazakhstan’s leading financial and industrial group, BTA, has expressed its desire to build an oil refinery there that would have the capacity of 3-5mil tonnes.
